Today is the day i am looking forward to. So excited.
I have been wanting to visit this former mountain mining town that had turned into an amazingly beautiful old town for quite some time.
Hola Jiufen! Eres Fabuloso.
This quaint little old town, with stunning view of the ocean, is just about an hour forty-five minutes away from Taipei City. It is a famous tourist attraction.
Rich in culture and history, this ancient town appears unchanged since the olden days. Cobblestone alleyways, narrowed streets, traditional wooden houses and symbolic red lanterns hanging on both sides of the street.
Walking through the narrow streets with rows of shops and food stalls selling of snacks and local delights, made me hungry.
Time for some snacks.
My favourite pork sausage, and Taro Rice Ball which is a signature snack of Jiufen. It consists of a mixture of sweet potato balls and taro balls with red bean and sweet potato soup.
Handmade fishball, a popular cultural delicacy can be seen everywhere.
A refreshing drink. Fresh Guava juice. It comes in a cute Doremon bottle.
The beauty of Jiufen…..
It reminded me of Santorini, Greece where houses were built on the edge of the mountains overlooking the ocean.
Getting here:
By Bus: At Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station, exit station from Exit 1 and take Bus No. 1062 (Keelung Bus) to Jiufen. I personally encouraged you to sit on the left side of the bus to enjoy scenic views of Northern Taiwan.
By Train: From Taipei Main Station, take train to Ruifang Station. Exit the station and cross the street to the bus stop opposite. Board Keelung Transit Bus No. 788 or 1062 towards Jiufen.
