Checking In Sira Grande Hotel Phuket

Checking In Sira Grande Hotel Phuket - Cover

Surrounded by stunning landscapes, pristine beaches, affordable luxury accommodation choices, unique blend of cultures, and, with no shortage of delicious foods, Phuket is probably another one of Southeast Asia’s most sought after destination.

Feeling the need for a badly but well deserved tropical beach break, I visited Phuket two weeks back and decided to check in at Sira Grande Hotel near Patong area. Turns out that the hotel was not only ideally situated within walking distances to all the central highlights of Patong, but also allowed me the convenience and opportunity to explore the world renown wonders of Phuket as well as indulge in many of its delicious local night market and street food delights.

So for all you beach and foodie lovers, staying in a good location in Phuket during your vacation here not only saves you lots of trouble and money in getting around town, but also gives you absolute access to all the amenities to live the local lifestyle and enjoy the goodness the town has to offer.

Here’s my experience staying at Sira Grande Hotel Phuket.

The Hotel

Centrally located in Patong area, Sira Grande Hotel is certainly a classy, top-notch comfort accommodation that still fits into anyone’s budget friendly pocket. With an extremely homely touch and its modern styled roof top pool and bar, you could easily lock yourself here in this tropical sanctuary to simply unwind and relax for the next couple of days without thinking of heading anywhere else.

Whatever type of traveller you are, the locale of the hotel is perfect for countless activities that suites everyone from everywhere. Patong beach is just 7 minutes walk away, Baan Zaan night market is right around the corner, and best of all, Phuket’s only Jungceylon shopping mall is right opposite. Dotted around this enclave are many more shops, night markets, eateries and pubs, all easily accessible by foot.

Tucked away in the corner of its own alley, Sira Grande Hotel has all the right elements for a relaxing staycation with impeccable service and attentive hospitality. Although a refundable cash deposit of 3,000 Baht per room is required upon check in, the overall experience of staying here at Sira Grande Hotel has greatly exceeded my expectations.

The Rooms

Situated near the end of an alley, the hotel is very quiet at night and you can rest assured that you are going to get the best ultimate beauty sleep every night in its comfortable oversized beds.

Featuring spacious room areas on every floor, the rooms at Sira Grande Hotel come with balconies that either offer the mountain or street view. All rooms are simple in terms of decor but are fully equipped with all basic facilities and generous electrical charge points. With its large glass sliding doors that divides the room and its balcony, the generous sun rays that penetrate instantly welcome you in. And like the sea around Phuket, the large bed and comfy pillows lures you to dive straight in and allow your stress to melt away into the mattress the moment you step in.

The balcony is a great “me time” place within the room that lets you catch up with your travel blogging work (like me) or simply finish that book you brought along for your holiday while sipping the gentle rays of the tropical sun. It is small but comfortable enough for you to enjoy the spoils of your night-out street food take-away supper or to simply just chill with a couple of beers after sunset and into the night.

Dining

Sira Grande Hotel has only one cafe-dining hall located at the ground floor of the hotel and is only open for breakfast daily. However, the hotel has an excellent in room dining menu that serves a variety of local and international cuisines at a reasonable price.

At the top of the hotel is a gorgeous rooftop bar with a connecting outdoor pool overlooking the city and the sea beyond. Taking full advantage of its daily happy hour promotion, this is definitely the place to be in the evening, retreating from the tropical sun while dipping in the cool water and enjoying cocktails in the in-pool jacuzzi. The bar also serves some mouth watering snacks and finger food to pair with your cocktails. So if you’re too lazy to head out, then just head up!

Activities

Unlimited shopping, food and sunshine.

The hotel is quite literally surrounded by many eateries, 24 hour convenience shops and even roadside street food stalls. What’s even better is that Jungceylon, Phuket’s only shopping mall, is just around the corner and opposite the main road from the hotel. You can even get to the infamous Bangla Street and the Patong beach by walking through the mall. If you’re suddenly short on travel supplies or looking to do a grocery run, there’s a huge Big-C supermarket situated in the Jungceylon shopping mall that sells all kinds of stuff and even accepts all major credit cards. When evening falls and your stomach growls, Baan Zaan night market springs into action offering rows and rows of freshly cooked delicacies in a night market styled take-away street food bazaar.

For the adventurous souls, you can book a tour with the hotel tour desk and hop on a boat to explore the alluring Koh Phi Phi and other smaller sister islands off Phuket. Else, rent a motorbike and bike up the hill to visit the Big Buddha.
