Checking In Sapulidi Resort And Spa Ubud Bali

Luxuriously rural! An unfazed atmosphere surrounded by pristine rainforest and golden hued rice terraces, the cultural town of Ubud is quickly becoming a popular destination in Bali.

With a wide selection of affordable luxury resorts springing up in every crevice of the town, dotted with fine restaurants and spas, including a range of spoilt-for-choice lifestyle activities, Ubud is the definite getaway spot to pamper yourself. Be it wellness rejuvenation or ‘drop dead’ partying, it will be so enjoyable that you will never want to leave.

During my recent trip to Ubud, I’ve stayed in this amazingly breathtaking Sapulidi Resort and Spa. This stay was one of the best stays I had in Bali and all I could say was IMPRESSIVE.

Let’s check in…

The Resort

Located away from the bustling district of Ubud, the resort is seated right on a rice plantation, encompassed by its natural lush green. In the resort compound, a river curves its way through the calming flora and fauna, flowing in and out of a large tranquil pond surrounded by villas, while disbursing its serenity into the atmosphere around it.

The resort does live up to its natural characteristics of living in the natural wild; from the chirping of crickets, the croaking of the frogs and the buzzing of the insects, to the howl of nightingales.

The Bohemian hut-style resort is designed with traditional Balinese influence with a touch of modern creativity and style. It’s simplicity protrudes a sense of comfort and peace the very moment you set foot in to the resort. The very breath and atmosphere is humid with natural forest scents plus a constant light island breeze trickling through the compound.

With an exotic wooden bridge that connects the hotel reception to the villas within its vicinity, you get to enjoy the picturesque habitat of green and the swishing river with its inhabitant fishes right below the bridge while on your way to your villa.

The Room

The resort has different room categories from Deluxe to Suite King, and all comes with a splendid view. The spacious room is decorated elegantly with a touch of modernism featuring a complimentary in room wifi, comfortable king sized bed with mosquito net installed, flat screen TV with satellite cable, safe box, mini bar, an outdoor patio and a huge outdoor ensuite bathroom.

I stayed in the Deluxe villa, just a few steps away from the swimming pool with a patio facing a plot of rice plantations. With lush green rice durums growing as far as the eye can see, a little cattle and duck farm can be seen at the horizon too. Little humming birds and migratory birds come to flock around this area for a stay too, only without room service.

I love waking up every morning to such peace and beauty. This kind of phenomenal feeling is difficult to explain. It’s like reliving and redefining the different shades of the colour green after living most my life in a metropolis concrete jungle of grey. You just have to experience it yourself.

The Facility

The resort has a big swimming pool which sits in the middle of its compound, dotted with rice field square-plots all around. The pool provides an enchanting view of its surroundings while it keeps its users cool under the shades of trees.

I definitely love the idea of basking myself under the sun soaking in a clear blue watered pool as I whisk my day’s imagination away into the jungle!

The Food

Rempah Rempah Resto, the resort’s only restaurant offers a stunning view, overlooking the flat golden hued rice field. Open from early morning till late night and with a wide menu spanning from local Balinese fares to Western delights, you can undoubtedly try a new dish for every meal, amidst the spectacle of nature it has to offer as entertainment.

My favourite dish was the ‘pedas’ or extra spicy Mee Goreng. Something to tingle your senses as you warm up to the sun.

The Activities

As the resort is located in a prime location near the touristy-commercial district of Ubud, you will never get bored. And although hiding yourself in the undisturbed comfort of the hotel is tempting, the many adventures Ubud has to offer is even more exciting.

The resort provides free shuttle services to and fro from Ubud centre, a shopping, massage and food haven. It is also conveniently situated in close proximity to many of Ubud’s ‘must see’ attractions.

A visit to the Sacred Monkey ForestElephant Safari Park, Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Tegenungan Waterfall or even head off-the-beaten track to the Pura Gunung Kawi from in and around Ubud are a definite must.

There are so many things to do here and you will never run out of options. Make the best moment out of your time here and take every piece of Ubud back with you.

To me, while I do love the sea and its crashing white crested waves, I also love Ubud for its laid-back environment and its tropical nature reserves.
