Ubud, Bali is like a heaven on earth. Surrounded by lush greeneries and vast golden hued rice plantations, this rustic town is filled with the essence of serenity for a perfect escapade away from the hustle and bustle of our daily city lives.

Well loved for its calm and laid-back lifestyles, most of the resorts and hotels here are situated in close proximity or right next to the rice fields. This picturesque and unique setting offers visitors unparalleled views in a haven of peace and tranquillity while basking in the midst of comfort and soulistic revitalisation.

For my second solo-adventure in Bali, I’ve chosen a resort that has a robust traditional Balinese touch to indulge in the virgin serenity of Ubud and be surrounded by its heritage greenery – The Anulekha Resort and Villa.

Anulekha Resort and Villa is located in Lodtundu village, away from the busy and touristy district of Ubud. This boutique resort is well-known for their quietude and placid scenery and is a definite choice for a private getaway. 

For the convenience of travelling around Ubud, the hotel even provides free two-way shuttle service to Ubud Centre for hotel guests. However, do check with the hotel reception on the shuttle timing beforehand. 

A resort surrounded by the beautiful charm of nature’s green and the swaying of coconut trees, not only will you be left in awe at its view but begin to savour the rich smells of its golden rice fields and harmonious blends of nature as well. The warm glow of the sun and the long frozen like horizons ultimately brings nature closer to you, instilling a sense of re-defined restfulness and seclusion.

The hotel lobby was decorated remarkably in the Balinese style, exuding a sense of Balinese charm that left people feeling impressed and awed. The wooden furnitures and carved stone statues showcased the skills and creativity of the Balinese artisans, as well as their love for arts and crafts. The theme seemed traditional but with a charm of modernity with a local interpretation of western designs. 

Located on the top of the hotel lobby is the hotel’s restaurant, Silungan where a fusion of  Western, Indonesian and Balinese cuisine are served. 

The hotel staffs were equipped with a good command of English. They were beyond hospitable, addressing me pleasantly by name upon my arrival with smiles and courtesy that could steal your worries away. 

The check-in was a breeze and competently processed. Facilities available in the premises were all clearly explained.

Within minutes, I was shown to my room…or should I say chalet!  

The room was incredibly big and spotlessly clean. Well furnished with Balinese hardwood decor aligned with modern touches, I couldn’t really find a word that describes how well done this room was. A humongous sized comfortable bed adorned with its befitting fluffy pillows are to die-for.

The bathroom size also exceeded my expectation. It was nicely designed with a bath tub adorned in wood-stained like tiles that compliments the wooden furnitures and fittings in the bathroom. All types of bathroom amenities and toiletry kits were provided and were well organised.

In all this awe and excitement, the reverberence of nature outside still calls. Now, let’s take a look at the exterior of my sweet chalet.

Right outside my chalet was a big beautiful garden, full of trees and flowers with a swimming pool at the centre. Umbrella shades were installed all around the beach chairs to help ease the sunlight out. Although the pool was a bit small but nevertheless it was clean and well maintained.

In the heat and humidity of such a beautiful sunny tropical island, there was nothing better than getting yourself warmed up by going for a long soak in the sun.
