Located just at the edge of Orchard at Wilkie Edge along the infamous Selegie Road, Hai Xian Lao is opened from 1130 hours to 0500 hours the next day everyday for anyone who’s craving for a hot meal after long late hours of partying and entertainment.

Located within a stones throw from prime tertiary education hubs like Kaplan and SOTA, Hai Xian Lao delivers fresh seafood and homemade steamboat broths for groups and individuals of all ages. I was privileged to be invited along with some other great foodie bloggers to try their signature collagen soup broth which is the only one of its kind in Singapore. Perfect for ladies wanting to enjoy a nice steamboat buffet with friends while taking in all that collagen goodness for the skin.

Another recommended try is their tom yam soup base which to me yields a great level of savouriness while balancing a stark tone of spiciness that is authentically Thai. Bundled with the fresh stock and variety of seafood and other delights, Hai Xian Lao lives up to their ‘seafood'(海鲜) name and also offers many other varieties of soup bases such as chicken and even Laksa, for those looking to further their great Singapore experience.

When in Singapore, never miss out our fried or barbequed chicken wings! Hai Xian Lao has a pretty good ready-to-eat crispy fried prawn paste chicken wing item dinners can dig in while waiting for the steamboat broth to boil.

They also have a separate lunch menu and a good line of cooked side dishes for those with an even bigger appetite. Coupled with the usual line up of typical Singapore steamboat ingredients and fresh vegetables, Hai Xian Lao provides a great ambiance both indoors as well as their alfresco style outdoors for those wanting to soak up the night in Orchard.

Great place to be with friends and family away from the bustle and tussle of Orchard Road or even a place for students to hang out over a nice hot meal.
